Decade RG-8 Coaxial Cable - 75ft
Model: RG-8-75
About: Decade RG-8 Coaxial Cable - 75ft
Decade coaxial cables use a special ferrite beads common-mode choke to prevent the radio wave reaching the antenna from using the cable shield as an antenna. Indeed, without this choke, the cable shield becomes part of the antenna ground plane and radiates some of the RF energy, which causes many problems :
- modification of the antenna impedance and increase in the standing wave ratio (SWR), which causes a power loss and can damage the transmitter;
- modification of the radiation pattern of the antenna and reduction of the coverage;
- the cable / antenna system is easily upset by the immediate environment;
- radiation by the cable shield can be dangerous to radio station operators (in case of high power transmission). It can also induce audible noise in the transmitted signal.
"Snap-on" ferrites are available for installation on a standard coaxial cable. Please contact us.
RG-8 coaxial cable has a diameter of 0.400'' and losses of 1.7 dB per 100' at 100 MHz. It is recommended for applications requiring high efficiency. Equiped with two UHF plugs (PL-259).
