KUMO 1616 strikes the perfect balance of capacity and size. At just 1RU, KUMO 1616 fits into the smallest rack space while providing routing for 16 inputs and outputs at exceptionally high quality.

Compact, robust and built for critical production environments, KUMO Compact SDI routers offer flexibility and quality that exceeds SMPTE specifications at an unprecedented price. KUMO SDI routers are available in three configurations: KUMO 3232 supports 32 3G SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 1616 supports 16 3G SDI inputs and outputs and KUMO 1604 supporting 16 3G SDI inputs and 4 3G SDI outputs.

Compact routing

KUMO compact SDI routers provide powerful signal control and support full broadcast specifications over 3G SDI, with quality that exceeds SMPTE specifications. The super-compact 1RU and 2RU formats are just a few inches deep, making them a perfect fit for any broadcast, production, or post production environment, from mobile sports trucks and edit suites, through to corporate video installations or live theatrical A/V rigs.

4K, 3G, HD, SD Support

Upgrading a facility or mobile unit is not always an all-at-once process. A certain amount of overlap exists where a mixture of signals have to all coexist within the same architecture.

KUMO routers are designed to upgrade as you do. With a simple setting change, KUMO routers can be configured for ganged dual and quad port routing, allowing multiple inputs and outputs to be grouped together for Dual Link, 4K and UltraHD workflows. This allows seamless routing of uncompressed or RAW 4K and UltraHD signals throughout a production or post facility. Then switch the router back to HD/SD operation as needed, giving you the flexibility to route virtually any format in your facility.

Powerful signal control

KUMO’s powerful cross-point routing matrix maps any input to any number of outputs without the need for additional patch panels or distribution amplifiers. Use KUMO as an affordable distribution amplifier by routing a single input to all outputs. Used in this way, a KUMO 3232 can take the place of multiple distribution amplifiers.

Broadcast quality

Designed for critical broadcast, production and post environments, KUMO routers are built to AJA’s demanding quality standards, which exceed SMPTE specifications. As data rates increase, such as with 3G signals and 4K workflows, higher tolerances are required in order to maintain signal quality.

Simple installation and configuration

Running Embedded Linux, KUMO routers are network-ready and support powerful HTTP control and monitoring via a web browser - without the need for any additional software.

KUMO's auto-detect Bonjour™/Zeroconf protocols mean that network configuration is automatic, just connect KUMO to your network or a computer and the system will self-configure, ready for use. Alternatively, standard network configuration allows access to each KUMO via its default IP address. Once connected to KUMO using a web browser, you can configure the full TCP/IP settings, select and name KUMO routers, name sources and destinations, and perform all operational functions.

KUMO routers are easily integrated with existing infrastructure utilizing the industry-standard Grass Valley Native Protocol over RS-422 or even Ethernet. Ethernet network connectivity also allows you to control all KUMO routers from any web browser on a network-connected device, ensuring you have the control you need from any location.
