About: Panasonic DMW-DMS1 LUMIX Digital Shotgun Microphone
LUMIX Digital Shotgun Microphone (DMW‑DMS1) delivers crisp, focused sound with its newly engineered 0.4‑inch large‑diameter microphone array. A floating shock‑mount reduces handling noise, while the windscreen and advanced wind‑noise cancellation ensure natural vocals even in harsh conditions. Six directional modes offer instant flexibility, and 32‑bit float recording* captures distortion‑free audio up to 120 dB. Two backup modes* protect your takes from accidental settings or let you record ambient sound. Weighing just 0.22 lb, DMS1 draws power and transfers digital audio through the hot shoe—keeping your setup clean and cable‑free. Intuitive switches and adjustable‑brightness buttons make operation easy, even in low light. DMS1 gives creators reliable, adaptable, pristine audio—anywhere the story goes.

Pro‑grade Sound Anywhere You Shoot
The new 0.4‑inch large‑diameter mic array delivers crisp, focused audio—even in noisy environments—so creators can capture clear, professional sound on the go.
Six Modes, Total Flexibility
Switch pickup patterns to match interviews, vlogs, music, travel, and more—no extra gear or complex setups required.
- Forward Directionality Cardioid: Captures sound naturally while retaining some ambient sound. Recommended for when recording multiple people conversations and capturing ambient sounds, etc.
- Stereo: Emphasizes the forward direction for recordings with a sense of presence. Recommended for live street performances, studio recordings, etc.
- Wide Stereo: Emphasizes the feeling of open space for recordings with a sense of presence. Recommended for public presentations, sports events, etc.
- Forward Directionality Supercardioid: Clearly captures front sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides and the rear. Recommended for noisy environments or indoor spaces that have reverberation.
- Rearward Directionality Supercardioid: Clearly captures rear sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides and the front. Recommended for when recording with narration, etc.
- Bidirectional Supercardioid: Clearly captures front and rear sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides. Recommended for interview recording when there is interaction between the videographer and the subject, etc.
Conventional method: In strong wind conditions, the entire audio signal is compressed to prevent distortion before wind noise is removed. As a result, the target sound is also compressed.
New method: The dynamic range is expanded using float recording technology before wind noise is removed, so the target sound is not compressed.
Reliable features to capture every important sound
- Professional Reliability: Record in 32‑bit float* for distortion‑free audio, even at extreme levels up to 120 dB—perfect for concerts, events, and high‑intensity environments.
- *Compatible with S1RII, S1II and S1IIE as of February 2026.
- Built‑In Backup Security: Two backup recording modes* protect your takes from accidental setting errors and let you capture ambient sound when you need it
- *Compatible with S1RII, S1II and S1IIE as of February 2026.
Stable recording even in vibrating or windy conditions
- Cleaner Sound on the Move: An internal floating shock‑mount reduces handling and vibration noise, while the included windscreen with new wind-noise cancellation system uses float-recording technology to suppress wind without crushing your tone - delivering open, natural vocals in harsh weather.
- Minimize vibration noise: By adopting an internal shock-mount mechanism with a floating structure, the system significantly reduces vibration noise during handheld or walking shots.
- Minimize wind noise: The included large windscreen ensures clear audio recording outdoors. It reduces wind noise while maintaining excellent sound quality.
Compact yet highly mobile and easy to operate
- Lightweight, Cable‑Free Workflow: At just 0.22lb, it draws power and transfers digital audio through the hot shoe—no cables needed. Physical switches are intuitive, with adjustable‑brightness buttons for low‑light shoots
- Dedicated pouch for smart storage: The included pouch is designed to fit the microphone even with the windscreen attached, making it convenient to carry around.
