Electro-Voice RE320 Dynamic Vocal and Instrument Microphone

I bought this mic to use at home for VO jobs and to create podcasts. It's a big step up from the Blue Yeti mic I've been using for several years. So far I am extremely happy with this mic which is on a par with the high end mic I've used in professional studios. The one caveat that I would add is that as a dynamic mic, the gain on the mic is fairly low. When paired with a low quality pre-amp this could result in unwanted noise in post-production. I would recommend using this in conjunction with a Fethead or Cloudlifter is you are using this with a Zoom recorder or a lower end Focusrite interface. I am also a bit put off by the fact that the shock mount for this mic is non-standard and a very expensive add-on.
...

It may be the lower priced broadcast EV dynamic mic when compared against the RE20 and the RE27 - but in my 30 years of pro recording and studio voice work, the built like a tank RE320 is nothing short of spectacular. It’s clearer than the RE20 and warmer than the RE27. Tip: run the RE320 in normal voice and roll off the high end on the RE27. Then A/B them. Result: the 320 magically becomes the 27! And you’ve saved hundreds of dollars. I will buy this mic over and over and highly recommend it to my associates. It’s a 10+ for both broadcast and podcast work!
...
