BPM 1.5 delivers the sounds of 80 such classic machines from the 1970's, 80's and 90's — a massive 4 GB collection of legacy rhythm sounds, combined with BPM's updated 1.5 library, for an unprecedented 19 GB, by far the most extensive rhythm sound library available.

More musical styles

Updated soundbanks deliver kits, patterns and sounds for many additional musical styles, including big beat, dancehall, dub, electro, jungle, hard trance, house, jungle-drum bass, minimal, progressive, vinylized and others. With BPM's FlexLoop™ technology, you control every loop element, from individual samples to FX parameters. Combine kits and patterns from each style to create unique hybrid beats.

Customized control

How you play your instrument is how you express yourself as a musical artist. That's why BPM lets you use the MIDI controller of your choice. It needs to feel right. Be right. Just for you. BPM Version 1.5 goes further by letting you customize how it responds to your pad controller, MIDI keyboard, or other controller, so that your flow is BPM's flow, and BPM flows with you.

Note repeat

Choose any note repeat value, from triplet 64ths to dotted quarters to 32x. Assign the note repeat button to any control item on your MIDI controller. Change the repeat value on the fly from your controller. Control the volume (velocity) of repeated notes with aftertouch pressure. This is rhythm programming they way it should be: live, dynamic, and customizable.

MIDI Select

The new MIDI Select feature gives you direct access to each pad — up to 64 simultaneous pads per scene — for quick editing and tweaking directly from your MIDI controller. Need to tweak the filter cutoff on the crash cymbal? Play the pad, tweak the filter, done.

Bank aux FX

When creating your own banks of sounds, the new Bank Aux FX feature lets you program and save effects such as delays, reverb, filters, and any of BPM's dozens of included effects together with the bank itself, so that the next time you load the kit, the effects load with it.

What are the system requirements for BPM 1.5.1?

System Requirements for BPM version 1.5.1

BPM 1.5.1 has the following new minimum and recommended system requirements:

• Mac or PC with Intel Core Duo CPU 1.83 GHz or faster; multiple processors or a multi-core processor is required. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.0 GHz or faster recommended. Macs with PowerPC CPUs are not supported.
• 2 GB of RAM is required; 4 GB or more is highly recommended.
• CD/DVD disc drive for installation.
• Mac OS X version 10.8, 10.7, 10.6, or 10.5 (v10.5.8 or later is required), or Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista (32- or 64-bit; Vista SP2 or later is required).
• Large hard disk, preferably at least 100 GB. The disk on which the sounds are stored must be a fast hard disk. Refer to the BPM User Guide Installation chapter for details.
• iLok USB key which must be purchased separately. iLok NOT included.
• Available USB port for the iLok SmartKey.
• A digital audio workstation program or other program that hosts AU, VST, or RTAS instrument plug-ins. Alternatively, BPM can be used as a standalone application.

64-bit operation

For native 64-bit operation, BPM has the following additional requirements:

• Mac OS X version 10.8, 10.7, or 10.6, or a 64-bit version of Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista
• 64-bit CPU
• 64-bit plug-in host application, if using the 64-bit plug-in
• BPM formats that support 64-bit operation:
• Mac OS X: AU, VST, Stand-alone
• Windows: VST, Stand-alone

Hard disk format

Due to the large size of BPM’s factory soundbank UFS files, the disk containing the soundbank files must be able to support individual files larger than 4 GB. This is determined by the disk’s file system format.

The default file system format for disk drives on Mac OS X and Windows are compatible with BPM’s soundbank files:

• Mac OS X: HFS+ (Mac OS Extended, journaled or unjournaled)
• Windows: NTFS The FAT32 format is not compatible with BPM’s soundbank files, as it does not allow file sizes greater than 4 GB.

UVI Engine XT

BPM 1.5.1 has been significantly updated, due to the incorporation of the latest UVI Engine XT first introduced in the recent release of MachFive 3. BPM 1.5.1 is now based on this same core code base, which offers:

• Compatibility with the latest Mac OS X and Windows operating systems, including Mac OS X 10.8 and Windows 8
• 64-bit operation
• CPU performance optimizations
• Dozens of “under-the-hood” improvements
