Filters create color by subtracting certain wavelengths of color. Thus, a red filter absorbs blue and green, allowing only the red wavelengths to pass. The process is subtractive, not additive, so the light source must emit a full spectrum.Roscolux is comprised of two types of plastic. More than 65% of the line is made from co-extruded polycarbonate plastic. The remainder of the line is deep dyed polyester.

Pros:
This filter can also be used for non-photographic purposes - for general lighting. It filters out the blue component of white LEDs to produce "amber light between 500 and 700 nm. This makes most white LEDs suitable for night time illumination while helping to preserve your night vision. And, it is less attractive to flying insects. We line outdoor light fixtures (including lawn lights) to produce an illumination that is much easier on your eyes.
Cons:
You will have to trim the sheet of film to fit your specific light fixture and it should be mounted inside the fixture's clear enclosure.
Comments:
This is much more economical than replacing your lights and versatile.
