About: Mackie SRM1801 Powered Subwoofer

The Mackie SRM1801 18" Powered Subwoofer delivers powerful, chest-thumping lows, perfect for your SRM450v2 PA system. The SRM1801 has a ported bass reflex design that produces tight low end. And the lightweight, ultra-efficient Class-D Fast Recovery™ power amplifier delivers 1000W peak power with less risk of thermal overload. This makes the sub extremely lightweight and portable, without compromising the power and performance that you need. It's the first ever 18" subwoofer specifically designed for use with the best-selling SRM450v2—add some serious low end to your portable PA with the SRM1801.

What does 1000W of peak power mean to you? It means having a subwoofer that delivers rump-shaking bass night after night. It means getting class-leading power and output. To accomplish this, the SRM1801 features Class-D Fast Recovery™ amplification. Class-D amps are more efficient and lightweight, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. Fast Recovery means you can occasionally push into clipping without a ton of nasty distortion. So, power is no problem... but how does it sound? The SRM1801 benefits from built-in Active electronics, like a precision crossover and tuning filters for accurate bass response. Some subwoofers have decent power, but when you listen, everything sounds loose and flabby. The SRM1801 delivers professional low end that you can feel...custom tuned to be tight and punchy.

Paired with a Mackie SRM450v2, you have a complete (and completely affordable) “plug and play” system that is ideal for small clubs, DJs or rehearsal spaces. The SRM1801 has both full-range and high-pass stereo outputs for connection to full-range top boxes. Just dial in the appropriate level and use the polarity switch to make sure the sub is in phase with the top boxes. The integrated pole-cup can accommodate a standard mounting pole, so your favorite speaker has a nice place to sit. Or you can just stack your full-range box right on top...the SRM1801 ain't picky. It's also a great match for the popular Mackie TH-15A and can easily integrate into nearly any existing PA setup you may have

If you are looking into getting a subwoofer, than you probably have the following criteria in mind: You need as much power as possible. Well, the SRM1801 offers class-leading power in its price range. You need it to go low...body vibrating low. The SRM1801 has a high-output 18" woofer that can be felt from across the room. It's got to be easy to move and built to last. The SRM1801 incorporates features that make it lighter and more portable than the competition. Plus, it's made with rigid plywood (not fiberboard) to handle the rigors of the road. So, if you are looking for professional quality, portability and impressive low end for your SRM450v2 system, you have to check out the SRM1801. Reviews: Mackie SRM1801 Powered Subwoofer

Calvin I. - 06/27/2014

-Shakes the floor when the DJ lets the beat drop!
-Rubber feet prevent it from moving, when it does, it takes whatever it's sitting on with it
-2 sepearated XLR channels
-73 lbs, means a single strong technician can move it awkwardly, or two can position it EXACTLY where you want it.
-Wrinkle paint finish matches well with a SRM450V2 sitting atop it.
-Metal front grille, can't tell you how many mesh/plastic ones have torn or cracked respectively
-A lot for your money

-No pole tightening mechanism
-Gain knob at the back breaks off, would like to see recessed knob on revision
-No rigging points, thus I had to put plywood under it when I put it on a field rather than suspend it under my risers.
-Power consumption rating in the manual is confusing, it has a 500W RMS (1000W peak) amp, but you need to budget 640W for it
-Does not have 1/4" capability without adapters,

This sub-woofer will shake dirt, it'll shake hardwood floor, it'll shake a concrete room and if you're on carpet, it'll shake the floor beneath the carpet, should you so happen to be sitting on it, it'll shake you off give it a chance!

Extra dedicated channel is great for easy diagnosis of set-up, you can just quickly swap onto the other side to see if the sub is actually broken (which I've had one full range go on one of my two units)

Warranty is actually one of the downfalls of this unit, I had one unit blow a Sub Module (the ENTIRE back of the thing) because we drove it hard for 8 hours straight, and no-one bothered to check for OL. So it was our fault, but it was repaired after a long wait.

If your buying one of these, I highly recommend getting a SRM450V2 to sit on top of it, even if you don't buy the pole, they go like peas in a pod when you follow Mackie's instruction manual.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
