Reviews: Hercules DJ Console RMX 2

Tim F. - 06/27/2014

Interfaces extremely well with Virtual DJ software (backbone of what I use),
Great sound quality,
Durable and easy to setup,
Great size and form factor

Only one IMHO which is why I give it 4 stars vs 5 stars - I hate that the mixer part of the controller is not a stand alone mixer. Meaning, if your computer pulls a Bill Gates (rare) or Steve Jobs (rarer) crash on you, you lose complete functionality of the mixer portion so you cannot go to a backup audio device plugged into the other inputs. The way I get around this is by feeding the output of the RMX2 into another mixer that has backup audio devices plugged into it and not the RMX2. Not such a bad thing as there is then a redundant mixer in the loop as I have had mixers crap out on me in the middle of a gig. This way you always have a backup there on site in case...

An essential part of my DJ/VJ setup and inventory to give hardware control of software elements in Virtual DJ. It gives a way better tactile feel and functionality than simply using a mouse/keyboard input - plus the sound card in this unit is much superior sounding to the one in my laptop. Two thumbs up for this unit despite the one major con I noted.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
